For 30 years the Community Based Work Transition Program (CBWTP) has provided individualized transition services through instruction, community experiences, employment, and functional vocational evaluation to students across the state. The CBWTP is designed to provide a positive beginning in the world of work for students in special education during their last two years of high school through exploration/discovery, job development, and customized employment. The goal for all students participating in the CBWTP is to graduate from high school with ?Positive Employment Outcomes? (paying job in an integrated and competitive setting) with any needed accommodations or supports. OBJECTIVES: 1. Discuss the development and implementation of a community based work transition program. 2. Critique data collected for the past 15 to 20 years on the results of students participating in the community based work transition program. 3. Summarize the services/milestones a job coach provides for each student during exploration/discovery, job development and job analysis. 4. Design instruction for on the job training using evidenced based practices to meet the students? individualized needs. 5. Discuss how school districts can be reimbursed money for services provided by a job coach with the student and on behalf of the student, using billing statements and reports.
